Different landscapers require different levels of licensing, qualifications and insurance.
For instance, a landscaper who focuses on lawn mowing may not require any formal qualifications, but it’s essential they have an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and business insurance in case any property damage or injury occurs on the job.
Landscapers who operate on a more technical scale, such as structural landscaping or architectural landscaping, will require licenses and qualifications to safely complete work. Each state in Australia has different laws, but in most, either a Structural Landscaping License, Domestic Builder – Limited (DB – L) or Supervisors License is required. The best way to find out if your landscaper is licensed, registered and insured is to ask to see all licenses, ABN and insurance policies.
